FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Public Health Museum
Appoints
Executive Director
October 30, 2008
Tewksbury, Massachusetts - The Public Health Museum in
Massachusetts today announced the appointment of Christine Pondelli to the
position of Executive Director. In this role Christine will be responsible for
leading efforts to increase public awareness of the Museum, raise funds for
improvements and expansion, and to help formulate plans for the future direction
of the Museum. Christine will also oversee the daily operations of the Museum
and the recruiting of volunteers.
In her first few weeks,
Christine has proposed a new brand identity and Internet presence for the
Museum, which is now online. Working closely with the Board of Directors, she
will spearhead efforts in the coming months to increase membership and kick off
a fund-raising campaign for the Museum’s 15th Anniversary.
“Public
relations and fund-raising are vital to our maintaining and growing the Public
Museum’s offerings,” states Dr. Paul Etkind, Acting President of the Public Health Museum Board of Directors. “Being a
non-profit organization, we depend on contributions and memberships to fund our
operating budget. We need someone who has the background to
lead our efforts, and look to Christine’s experience to contribute significantly
in this area.”
Christine
has over twenty years of marketing communications experience supporting
non-profit and for profit organizations. Prior to joining the Public Health
Museum, Christine worked as an independent consultant, under the name Orion
Communications providing marketing communications consult to major broadcast
manufacturing firms. Her work in the non-profit sector includes the Development
Office at the former Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Lowell, Massachusetts, and the
establishment of the Joseph A. Sarno Memorial Scholarship Foundation with an
annual golf-tournament to raise money in support of that cause. The Foundation
provides an annual award for college tuition and focuses on at-risk youth. Christine
resides in Tewksbury.
